The Hornitos Patrons Club began as the Parents Club for the Hornitos School in the 1950's.  At that time it raised monies to provide a hot lunch for the children atending the school.  The lunch was provided by Hazel McDonell of Roy's Cafe.  At the time Dorothy and George Bauer were the custodians at the school.  Monies were also provided to fund field trips.  The club became the Hornitos Patron's Club so the community, not just the school, could be the focus of its efforts.

The Hornitos Patrons Club also administers the St. Catherine's Church Fund.  This fund is used to pay for improvements to the Gold Rush era St Catherine's Catholic Church in Hornitos.  The church is used for mas several times a year, as well as for weddings and baptisms. To send donations for memorials, cementery, or church upkeep, send a check to HPC, P.O. Box 341, Hornitos, Ca  95325.
